ParkSignal Privacy Policy

⚠️ Patent Pending. A U.S. patent application has been filed covering the ParkSignal system and methods for detecting street-parking availability from live camera feeds. Unauthorized reproduction, copying, or use of these methods is prohibited.
ParkSignal ("we", "us", or "our") operates the ParkSignal iOS application. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we protect it.
Information We Collect
ParkSignal collects minimal, anonymous data to improve the app experience:
- Anonymous device identifier: A random ID generated on your device and stored in its secure Keychain, so it persists if you reinstall the app. It is never linked to your name, email, or Apple ID. It is used for anonymous usage statistics and to determine free-trial eligibility.
- Location (approximate): Used only while the app is open to show nearby parking cameras. We do not store your location on our servers.
- App usage events: Anonymous logs of actions like opening the app or viewing a camera, used to understand how the app is used. No personal information is included.
- Parking feedback: If you submit a rating on a parking spot, we store it anonymously to improve detection accuracy.
- Subscription status: Purchases and free trials are processed entirely by Apple. We never see or store payment details. Your anonymous device identifier is used to track trial eligibility.
- Marketing links: If you reach the App Store through one of our links or QR codes, we record an anonymous tap count per source. No device or personal information is collected at that point.
Information We Do NOT Collect
- Name, email address, or any account information
- Precise GPS coordinates stored on our servers
- Payment information (handled entirely by Apple)
- Any data linked or linkable to your identity
Camera Feeds
ParkSignal displays publicly accessible traffic camera feeds provided by the NYC Department of Transportation. We do not record, store, or transmit any video footage.
Third-Party Services
- Apple App Store / StoreKit: Manages subscriptions. Apple's privacy policy applies to purchase data.
- Anthropic Claude API: Used to analyze camera images for parking availability. Images are sent to Anthropic's API and are subject to Anthropic's Privacy Policy. Images are not stored by us after analysis.
Data Retention
Detailed usage events are retained for 30 days and then deleted. Aggregate anonymous device records (first use date, most recent use date, event counts) are retained for the life of the service so long-term statistics stay accurate. We do not sell or share any data with third parties for advertising purposes.
Children's Privacy
ParkSignal is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
